When Gail Brown invited us to photograph her daughter’s wedding at the church of Nativity in downtown Huntsville, I knew we were in for a treat. Let me set this up properly. If you are from Huntsville you could not have missed the renovations going on at the church. Over the past year scaffolding has climbed the steeple and slowly the church received its armor of copper.  Nativity , established in 1843, is surrounded by gardens and wrought iron fences, truly a gothic and beautiful church.  For all its beauty on the outside the church is more impressive inside with dark wooden supports  and pews under a sweeping cathedral ceiling.  I could not think of a more perfect venue to host this Yule time wedding.

Wearing a gown from The Something Blue Shoppe and accessories of pearl, Christine was an elegant and radiant bride.

We kept the photography time light and easy, planning the shots and keeping everyone relaxed ensured fun was had by all!  These attendants were the Bomb!
Missy and I just love that afternoon light! The couple wanted a moment together before the wedding, but did not want to see each other. We pulled it off with a little help from the massive church doors. One of my favorite moments during weddings is when the bride is poised to enter the sanctuary. Its the calm before the storm. I LOVE IT! Weddings are full of unexpected twists and turns, and this one had a doozy.  Days before the event the reception had to be moved to a new location.  Graciously, the  gardens made accommodations available to the couple. The Reception was held in the Arbor Room of the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.  With only an hour to set up for the event, the team of vendors really pulled off an amazing event.  Let this be a true testament to hiring experienced professionals for your event.   Martini Bars are so awesome, entertainment and libations wrapped in one!Tyler and Christine danced the night away! Congratulations and best wishes to a wonderful couple! It was a true pleasure to photograph them and their families.

I just want to thank the couple and their families for giving us an amazing opportunity to work with such talented professionals.

If you are a photographer, engagement sessions are the perfect time to get to know your couples and see how comfortable they are with being in front of the camera.  In turn they have a chance to work with us and see our photography process. Come the wedding day we all know what to expect and can enjoy the day all the more!

Today we are posting a lovely outdoor engagement session. It was obvious to me right-away, these two were completely comfortable with each other and very much in love.  Devon and Ian picked out their outfits and wore the perfect colors to bring warmth to the winter afternoon shoot. They brought  props and items that are special to them and made for some fun images. Photographing these two was more like playing than working. I know we are going to have a great shoot at their wedding!

For all the newly engaged couples out there, Congratulations!   

We know that this is an exciting time, and everyone will be offering you advice on planning your wedding.  We don’t like to be left out; so, our advice is to enjoy the process, love each other, and remember that its your day.  One more thing, consider taking a dance lesson together, its a terrific excuse to share a new experience while being close to one another; you can always show off your new moves on the dance floor of your reception!   That being said, be sure to book your favorite vendors early; we have already closed out June and are booking into the Fall. We like to limit our weddings to 25 in a year to allow for all of our clients to have exceptional customer service and our complete attention. So, you know what they say about the shoe makers kids? Well, I knew it was time to have some portraits of our family. I am often asked who will shoot our photos, well now I have an answer! We will! Even with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays we made time to do our own family photo shoot, I think this will have to become an annual tradition. Missy and I took turns behind the lens and with a little training, our son was able to snap off a few shots like a pro. Who would have known that a five year old would make such a good remote shutter release!

We went to the quaint township of Moorseville, Al for a Signature Engagement Session with Erica and David.  Graduates of  the University of Alabama these two celebrated their engagement  in true Roll Tide Fashion.  Erica wore a houndstooth dress and David sported his Letterman’s jacket in a field of cotton, what’s more  Alabama than that?
